Summary
Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upkeep of industrial processing equipment and plant facilities. Plant maintenance personnel work to keep equipment operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment
- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment
- Repair and replacement of bearings, belts, motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, and other components
- Conveyor and material-handling system maintenance
- Lubrication, alignment, and equipment inspections
- Welding, cutting, fabrication, and general mechanical repairs
- Electrical troubleshooting and basic electrical maintenance
- Equipment installation and removal
- Emergency breakdown response and repairs
- Maintaining a safe and organized work area
- Documenting maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used
