Here's the truth: this house doesn't need someone to just clean it.
It needs someone to run it.
We're a busy family getting ready to welcome a new baby this fall, and we're looking for one person — not staff, not a rotating cast, just one great person — who wants to be the calm, capable force behind our home for years to come.
If you've ever walked into a house, taken one look around, and instantly known exactly what needs to happen first, second, and third... keep reading. That instinct is exactly what we need.
What this really is
This isn't an entry-level cleaning gig. This is for someone who's done this before — who's managed a home, not just tidied one — and who wants to walk in, take ownership, and not need a babysitter of their own (ironic, we know).
We're not just hiring someone to clean our home. What we really need is someone to protect our peace.
Success here isn't just measured by spotless counters, though we do love those. It's measured by whether we get to spend Saturday morning at the park instead of catching up on laundry. It's a mom getting to read one more bedtime story because dinner's already handled. It's never realizing we're out of milk until someone already put it on the list. It's opening a closet or a pantry and having it look like something off a Pinterest board, because you genuinely love making spaces work.
Our home
Five bedrooms (two are home offices, three we actually live in), a finished basement, a garage, about an acre of yard with a garden, and a pool (don't worry — pool care isn't part of this, we've got that covered separately). Three levels, so you'll get your steps in. And one very silly 6-year-old who's obsessed with dinosaurs, anything with wheels, and beating his own Mario Kart lap times.
What you'd own
- All cleaning and laundry — top to bottom, start to finish
- Grocery shopping, Costco runs, meal planning and prep (crockpot meals, freezer stashes, healthy snacks, the works)
- Keeping the pantry stocked and organized so we never hit that "wait, we're out of ___" moment
- Organizing — closets, drawers, cabinets, playroom, all of it. If you get genuine satisfaction from turning chaos into a system that actually works, this is a big part of why we need you
- Errands — post office, dry cleaning, returns, whatever pops up
- Coordinating vendors and repairs when something needs attention
- Light gardening — weeding, harvesting when things are ready
- Keeping the household's moving parts moving: to-do lists, holiday décor, gift shopping, maintenance reminders
The schedule and the pay
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00am–3:30pm. 21 hours a week. $35/hour, paid weekly or biweekly, whichever you prefer. Mileage covered for errands. Performance bonuses. No paid holidays or PTO, but if a holiday lands on your shift, it's yours to take off or make up later that week, your call.
There's real room to grow here too, both in hours and in how deep this role goes.
Who actually thrives here
Someone who moves fast and just handles it — takes initiative without being told twice. Someone who sees a problem and starts solving it instead of waiting for instructions. Someone with a genuine gift for organizing, who can look at a messy space and see exactly how it should work. Someone who's fun, low-key, doesn't take themselves too seriously, but takes real pride in the work.
We laugh a lot in this house. We work hard and don't love sitting on formality. We'll absolutely chat with you — we just can't be your therapy session mid-shift, because we're usually mid-workday ourselves.
One more thing, and this one's honest
The core job is running the house. Full stop. That's what we're hiring for, and that's what pays the bills here.
But if we're being real — if the right person came along and genuinely wanted to become part of this family's rhythm, someone who's up for pitching in with the baby once she's here, who becomes the person we trust completely, almost like a second mom in the house... we'd be lying if we said that wouldn't mean the world to us. Think less "employee," more "the person our family got lucky enough to find." Totally not required. But if that's the kind of role you've loved in the past, we'd love to know.
What would make you a great fit
- 3+ years of experience as a household manager, family assistant, or executive housekeeper
- A genuine talent for organizing — this matters as much as cleaning does
- References from families who'd hire you again in a heartbeat
- A clean driver's license and a car you trust
- Comfortable with stairs and a multi-level home
- Can lift 30 lbs without thinking twice
- Warm around kids, even though childcare isn't the core of this role
- Good with a background check — we take that seriously, because, well, kids
The deal-breakers
Chronic lateness. Drama. Constant hand-holding after you've been trained. If you need reminders every week to do the things you already agreed to do, this isn't your role — and that's okay, it's just not a match.
How we'll hire
A conversation first. Then references. Then a paid, 4-hour working interview, so you get a real feel for us and we get a real feel for you before anyone commits to anything.
We're not looking for perfect. We're looking for someone who takes ownership and runs with it.
If you read this and thought, "that's exactly the kind of family I want to work for" — we'd genuinely love to meet you.
