Job Description: Shop Foreman – Luxury Automotive Dealership
Position Overview
The Shop Foreman is a key leadership role within the service department, responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and optimizing technician productivity. This position serves as a technical expert, mentor, and liaison between service advisors and technicians, while upholding the standards and customer experience expected of a luxury automotive brand.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of service technicians to ensure efficient workflow and timely repair completion
- Assign repair orders based on technician skill level, certifications, and workload
- Monitor shop productivity, efficiency, and cycle time to meet or exceed dealership performance targets
- Ensure proper use of diagnostic tools, equipment, and manufacturer systems
Technical Expertise
- Provide advanced diagnostic support for complex or challenging repairs, particularly on high-end vehicles and emerging technologies (e.g., hybrid, EV, ADAS systems)
- Review and validate repair orders for accuracy, thoroughness, and compliance with manufacturer standards
- Stay current on manufacturer technical bulletins, recalls, and service procedures
Quality Assurance
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure all repairs meet brand standards
- Maintain strict adherence to safety policies, environmental regulations, and dealership procedures
- Ensure all vehicles are returned to clients in pristine condition, consistent with a premium service experience
Team Development & Coaching
- Mentor, train, and develop technicians to enhance technical skills, certifications, and productivity
- Promote a positive, performance-driven culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Assist in onboarding and evaluating technician performance
Customer Experience Support
- Partner with service advisors to clarify repair needs and communicate technical findings
- Assist in resolving escalated customer concerns and ensure a seamless, high-touch service experience
- Support transparency by ensuring accurate estimates and clear documentation
Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain proper documentation for warranty claims, repairs, and inspections
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty policies and audit requirements
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as efficiency, proficiency, and comeback rates
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience as an automotive technician, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
- Master-level diagnostic and repair skills, preferably within a luxury or high-end automotive environment
- ASE certifications (Master Technician preferred)
- Strong knowledge of modern vehicle systems, including advanced electronics and diagnostics
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Preferred
- Mercedes-Benz specific certifications
- Prior experience in a luxury automotive dealership setting
- Experience with electric and hybrid vehicle systems

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $150,000.00 per hour
