Agency Description: The Personal Care Attendants Agency (PCA, llc) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities—including individuals with Down syndrome and autism. Our mission is to help clients live and work independently and safely through personalized, one-on-one support services. Services are provided in short, individualized appointments ranging from 1 to 4 hours per client. Please note, this is not an 8-hour shift position, and it is not a group home or ISL (Independent Supported Living) setting.
Job Summary: Personal Care Attendants provide individualized support to clients, assisting them in completing essential activities of daily living. These may include meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, apartment upkeep, laundry, and organizational tasks, as outlined in each client’s personalized skill plan. Attendants implement these plans using a variety of supportive strategies, such as supervision, cueing, reminder systems, hands-on assistance, and modeling to promote independence and skill development. Most clients served reside in Johnson County; however, services are also provided to individuals in surrounding cities and counties throughout Kansas.
Client-Specific PCA Responsibilities May Include:
· Assisting them in tending to hygiene and appearance
· Supporting clients with meal planning, nutrition, meal preparation and/or job coaching
· Assisting with grocery shopping and accompanying clients to stores and/or place of employment
· Providing transportation to appointments (medical, personal, etc.)
· Communicating with families regarding client health and safety
· Helping clients break tasks into manageable steps and complete them both in the home or place of employment
· Supporting household chores and maintaining organized living spaces
· Using positive, individualized strategies to manage frustration or overwhelm
· Reinforcing positive coping skills
· Documenting services in an electronic reporting system
Required Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
· Current proof of automobile insurance
Preferred Qualifications, not required:
· Experience working with adults with autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental or physical disabilities
· Experience supporting individuals with life skills in community-based settings
· Education or training related to supporting individuals with special needs
· Current certification in CPR and First Aid
Additional Requirements:
· Participate in training provided by PCA or other agencies in necessary skills as needed
· Sign a confidentiality agreement and not share information about a client with anyone whom the client hasn’t agreed in writing for you to share information with
· Have a successful background clearance and vehicle driving check

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
