Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate the developmental, sensory, and motor skills of pediatric patients.
- Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observations to identify areas of strength and areas needing intervention.
Treatment Planning:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient and family goals, and evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including speech therapists, physical therapists, and physicians, to coordinate comprehensive care.
Therapeutic Interventions:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to children, focusing on activities that enhance sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, visual-motor integration, and self-regulation.
- Use creative and play-based interventions to engage pediatric patients in therapy sessions.
Family and Caregiver Education:
- Educate and involve families in the therapy process, providing strategies and activities for home-based interventions.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other team members to ensure consistency in therapeutic approaches across environments.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessment results, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Communicate effectively with team members through regular progress reports and participate in team meetings.
Continuing Education:
- Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.
- Pursue opportunities for professional development and maintain state licensure and certification requirements.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Washington State licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience or strong interest in pediatric occupational therapy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
