Nurse Practitioner – Medical Weight Loss, Nutrition & Internal Medicine

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and patient-focused Nurse Practitioner to lead and grow our medical weight loss and nutrition services while also supporting our internal medicine practice. This unique position is ideal for a provider who is passionate about helping patients achieve sustainable weight loss, improve their overall health through nutrition, and build long-term relationships through ongoing coaching and follow-up care.
The primary responsibility of this role will be conducting medical weight loss consultations, nutrition counseling, diet and lifestyle management visits, and follow-up appointments. As our weight loss program continues to grow, this provider will play a key role in guiding patients through personalized treatment plans and helping them achieve lasting health outcomes.
Currently, our practice has approximately two full days per week dedicated to medical weight loss and nutrition patients. During the remaining clinic days, the Nurse Practitioner will provide support within our internal medicine practice, including routine patient care and coverage for providers who are out of the office.
Primary Responsibilities – Medical Weight Loss & Nutrition
- Conduct comprehensive medical weight loss consultations and evaluations.
- Assess patients' medical history, lifestyle habits, nutrition status, and weight-related health concerns.
- Develop individualized weight management treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Provide ongoing follow-up visits to monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and support long-term success.
- Prescribe and manage weight loss medications as appropriate.
- Deliver nutrition and dietary counseling tailored to each patient's goals and medical conditions.
- Educate patients on healthy eating habits, exercise, behavior modification, and sustainable lifestyle changes.
- Monitor patient outcomes and maintain detailed documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
Secondary Responsibilities – Internal Medicine
- Provide comprehensive patient care within the internal medicine setting as needed.
- Conduct physical examinations and evaluate acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Diagnose and manage common primary care and internal medicine concerns.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic evaluations.
- Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans consistent with evidence-based guidelines.
- Assist with provider coverage during vacations, illnesses, or other absences.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Tennessee.
- Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) preferred.
- Experience in medical weight loss, obesity medicine, nutrition counseling, wellness, primary care, or internal medicine strongly preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient education skills.
- Ability to motivate and build rapport with patients pursuing lifestyle and weight management goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
