Job Summary – Lead Technician (Water Damage Restoration)
+ 2% of each project revenue
The Lead Technician – Water Damage Restoration is responsible for overseeing and performing emergency mitigation services for residential and commercial water losses. This role serves as the primary onsite lead, ensuring that mitigation work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards (IICRC S500), company procedures, and insurance requirements.
The Lead Technician manages jobsite execution from initial response through dry-out completion, including equipment setup, moisture monitoring, documentation, crew direction, and communication with homeowners, adjusters, and project managers.
Key ResponsibilitiesEmergency Response & Mitigation
- Respond to emergency water losses, including after-hours and on-call assignments
- Assess water intrusion, identify source and category of water loss
- Implement immediate actions to stop further damage and stabilize the structure
- Establish an effective drying strategy based on materials, conditions, and structure layout
Equipment Setup & Drying Operations
- Set up and manage air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and containment systems
- Monitor equipment performance and adjust placement as drying progresses
- Ensure proper operation of drying equipment throughout the mitigation period
- Remove equipment once drying goals are met
Moisture Monitoring & Documentation
- Perform moisture mapping and daily monitoring of affected materials
- Document readings, equipment usage, and job progress accurately
- Capture clear before, during, and after photos
- Maintain job notes suitable for insurance and internal reporting
Demolition & Material Handling
- Perform or oversee selective demolition of unsalvageable materials (flooring, drywall, cabinetry, etc.)
- Ensure safe handling and disposal of contaminated or damaged materials
- Coordinate with subcontractors when required
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce jobsite safety procedures and proper use of PPE
- Ensure compliance with IICRC standards, OSHA requirements, and company policies
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards on site
Crew Leadership & Customer Communication
- Direct and support technicians and laborers on site
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer during mitigation
- Provide clear explanations of the mitigation process and expectations
- Communicate job status and needs to management and estimators
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in water damage mitigation and restoration
- Working knowledge of IICRC S500 standards
- Ability to identify water categories and affected materials
- Proficient in moisture detection tools and drying equipment
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 75 lbs
- Ability to work in wet, confined, or physically demanding environments
- Use of PPE including respirators, gloves, and protective suits when required

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
