Position Summary:
The English Learners Aide works collaboratively with classroom teachers, the English Learner (EL) teachers, and school staff to provide instructional and language support for multilingual learners. The aide assists students in developing English language proficiency while supporting access to grade-level academic content. The position also serves as a liaison between school and home by helping facilitate effective communication with multilingual families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide instructional support to English Learner (EL) students individually, in small groups, and within the general education classroom.

Assist classroom teachers in delivering grade-level academic content using strategies that support English language development.

Reinforce vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to promote English language proficiency.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and the EL teacher to plan and implement instructional supports that maximize student learning and participation.

Support students in understanding classroom assignments, directions, and instructional materials while encouraging independence.

Assist in monitoring student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and language development.

Help prepare instructional materials, classroom resources, and learning activities that support language acquisition and academic achievement.

Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and culturally responsive learning environment.

Assist with communication between school and home by translating or interpreting when appropriate and within district guidelines.

Support family engagement by helping communicate school information, events, conferences, and student progress to multilingual families.

Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with district policies and applicable laws.

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training related to English Learner education and instructional practices.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or college coursework in education or a related field preferred.

Experience working with English Learners, multilingual students, or children in an educational setting preferred.

Bilingual proficiency in English and another language (Bengali, Spanish, Arabic)

Knowledge of language acquisition strategies and culturally responsive instruction.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
Work Environment: This position works primarily in classrooms and other school settings, providing direct support to students throughout the school day. Occasional participation in school events, family meetings, or professional development outside the regular classroom schedule may be required.
