Delivery Driver / Shipping & Receiving Clerk Job Summary
Exterior Metals is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Delivery Driver / Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join our growing team. This position serves as our primary delivery driver, ensuring products are delivered safely, accurately, and on time while providing outstanding customer service.
When not making deliveries, you will be responsible for shipping and receiving operations, inventory organization, order fulfillment, and supporting our warehouse and production team. This is a hands-on position that requires someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary Duties
- Safely operate company delivery vehicles to transport products to customer jobsites and businesses.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload materials while ensuring products arrive damage-free.
- Provide professional, courteous customer service during deliveries.
- Verify delivery paperwork, obtain customer signatures, and accurately complete delivery documentation.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to safely load and unload trucks.
- Pick, pack, stage, and fulfill customer orders accurately.
- Prepare shipping and receiving documents, including bills of lading and packing slips.
- Coordinate customer will-call pickups.
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantities and condition.
- Maintain organized warehouse inventory and perform cycle counts as needed.
- Conduct quality checks on incoming and outgoing shipments.
Secondary Duties
- Assist the fabrication shop with light sheet metal work, including bending, cutting, deburring, and material preparation.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and shop environment.
- Assist with inventory organization and material stocking.
- Support warehouse and production personnel with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a delivery driver, shipping & receiving clerk, warehouse associate, or similar role preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- Previous experience driving flatbed trucks or commercial vehicles is preferred.
- Forklift experience required (certification preferred).
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- Experience reading packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
- Mechanical aptitude or sheet metal fabrication experience is a plus but not required.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Friday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Occasional overtime may be required.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $22.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
