Position Title: Project Engineer - CPW
Reports To: Operations & Engineering Manager, US

Position Summary:
The Project Engineer - CPW is responsible for the comprehensive management of control panel projects. This role oversees every detail of a project from initial assignment through final sign-off for shipping, ensuring that all technical, logistical, and administrative requirements are met. The Project Engineer acts as the primary link between the customer and the company's internal departments, ensuring seamless communication, schedule adherence, and project success. The ideal candidate combines hands-on design skills with a strong understanding of control systems, panel layouts, and electrical standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
● Act as the primary liaison between the customer and internal company departments, including design, engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and shipping
● Manage and maintain overall responsibility for all details of each assigned project throughout the project lifecycle
● Design and develop electrical control panels according to customer schematics, specifications, etc.
● Prepare detailed electrical wiring diagrams, wire schedules, panel layout drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs)
● Review and ensure project designs and deliverables meet customer specifications and any applicable industry standards (e.g. UL508A, NEC, IEC, etc.)
● Select appropriate electrical components when applicable (e.g. terminal blocks, circuit breakers, fuses, contactors, relays, etc.) based on customer requirements
● Provide technical support during panel assembly, wiring, and testing phases
● Review and update documentation including all shop drawings throughout the project lifecycle
● Oversee project documentation finalization, including the closure and filing of all project records, providing as-built drawings to customers, etc.
● Monitor project timelines and relay any schedule concerns from the customer to the Operations Manager
● Identify and communicate changes in project scope to leadership to ensure proper adjustments and commercial alignment
● Assist in the development and improvement of engineering processes, standards, and tools
● Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes
● Ensure the final sign-off for shipping is completed accurately and on schedule
Additional Accountabilities:
● Oversee the collection, storage, integrity, and accessibility of project-related data, including but not limited to design specifications, customer and CPW drawings, and customer communications
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience in effectively communicating key information, attention to details, including occasional presentations to customers, management, and senior management
● Participate in and contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and procedures
● Assist with technical activities such as drafting, estimating, and testing as required to meet project milestones
● Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support the company’s operational goals
Required Education and Experience
● Associate’s (minimum) or Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field
● 1 -2 years of experience in electrical panel design, preferably in industrial or automation sectors
● Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical CAD tools
● Solid understanding of electrical circuits, control systems, and safety regulations
● Knowledge of UL, IEC, NEC, and NFPA79 standards applicable to panel building
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
● Effective communication, collaboration, and multi-tasking skills
● Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
● Proven experience in managing technical projects, preferably in the industrial control panel or automation sectors

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment, with regular interaction with the manufacturing floor. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and scanners. Occasional use of hand tools will also be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, on-site, day-shift position, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
