The UI Heart and Vascular Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support our EKG Lab. Under general supervision, administers EKGs on all outpatients at our main campus clinic. Responsible for performing EKGs, applying cardiac monitors on patients and processing cardiac monitors when returned to our clinic. This position will primarily work at our Iowa River Landing clinic.

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Scheduled hours between 7am – 6pm, Monday through Friday

Position Responsibilities

Performs EKGs on all outpatients at the University of Iowa Health Care.

Processes EKG tracings.

Performs necessary maintenance on equipment to ensure operational condition.

Provides assistance and answers questions for clinical technicians, externs, physicians and technicians

Acts as receptionist to the EKG laboratory area.

Follows general policies and procedures in accordance with the regulations of the University of Iowa Health Care, Department of Internal Medicine, and UI Heart and Vascular Center.

Edits reports of EKGs to the computer.

Performs placement of Holter monitors and 30-day event recorders.

Scans Holter monitor recordings.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Assumes responsibility for on-going self-learning and maintenance of clinical skills, analyzing own performance and set goals.
