Olympic Yard Works LLC (Independence, MO) is building a bench of independent stump grinding operators for steady, pre-sold work across the KC metro — Missouri and Kansas sides.
You get a text: stump count, diameters, photos, access notes, chips hauled or left, and the price we’re paying. Yes or pass. We handle the customer, the contract, the collections, and the complaint calls.
WHAT WE PAY
$3.00–$8.00 per diameter inch depending on access, chip haul, and proximity to structures or utilities. $150 minimum per trip — we don’t send you across town for one small stump at a loss. You see the flat dollar amount before you accept. Paid Net 7 from your completion photos.
HOW WE MEASURE
Diameter at ground level, widest point, measured before grinding. That’s the standard, it’s on every work order, and it doesn’t move — no arguments, no re-measures, no surprises for either side.
EVERY JOB SPECIFIES UP FRONT
Stump count and diameters. Chips hauled or left — priced differently, always stated. Grind depth — 4–6” below grade standard, deeper for replanting. Surface roots in or out. Access — gate width, slope, obstacles; if it needs a narrow-access machine we say so before you accept. Utility locates — we place the 811 ticket when we schedule; you verify marks on the ground before the first cut. No marks, no grind — call us first.
If anything’s wrong when you arrive, tell us before you start and we’ll re-price or pull the job. What we can’t fix is a job started and walked away from.
MUST HAVE — NO EXCEPTIONS
- General Liability $1M/$2M, Olympic Yard Works LLC named Additional Insured, primary and non-contributory
- Workers’ Comp for any crew — or a valid sole-proprietor exemption (MO or KS) if truly solo
- Commercial auto, $1M CSL
- Your own grinder — we supply zero equipment
- A W-9-ready business — LLC, corp, or registered sole proprietorship (MO or KS); sole props use an EIN, not your SSN
- Signed Master Subcontractor Agreement plus a Work Order per job
BIG PLUS
A narrow-access or walk-behind machine that fits a 36” gate — that alone gets you more calls than anything else on this list. Chip haul capacity. References.
WHAT WE EXPECT
Ground to spec depth, chips handled as stated, site raked clean, completion photos, professional conduct on our clients’ property. Miss windows or draw complaints and you move down our call list; perform and you move up — top operators get first call before anyone else sees the job.
THE LEGAL PART, STRAIGHT
This is a 1099 business-to-business subcontract opportunity. It is not employment. You are an independent business. You set your own methods, hours, and crew, and you may accept or decline any job with no obligation. No employment relationship is created or implied. You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and compliance with applicable Missouri and Kansas law.
