Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Extrusion Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of extrusion lines used in the compounding of thermoplastic materials. This position requires a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and adherence to CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices). The Operator will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all extruder operations are performed efficiently and safely.
Duties
- Set up, start up and operate single-screw or twin screw extrusion lines.
- Follow batch sheets, formulations, and production schedules accurately.
- Monitor and control process parameters including temperature, pressure, screw speed, and feed rates.
- Perform material changeovers and cleanouts.
- Inspect products for quality including, pellet size and contamination.
- Collect samples and complete required quality documentation.
- Troubleshoot process issues and make necessary adjustment to maintain product specifications.
- Maintain accurate production records and downtime reporting.
- Package finished goods according to customer requirements.
- Coordinate with quality, maintenance and supervision to resolve issues quickly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all plant safety rules, PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Assist in other production, warehouse or operational duties as assigned to support business needs.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, batch sheets and safety procedures.
- Ability to operate forklifts (or willingness to become certified)
- Ability to lift up to 55lbs. and work in a production environment(heat, noise,dust)
Experience
- 1-3 years of previous experience in manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail and quality awareness.
- Experience with materials handling, packaging and warehouse operations is beneficial.
- Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic math skills for material calculations and measurments.
