Field Safety Manager
Extreme Steel, Inc. operates throughout Northern Virginia and the DC Metro area and continues to expand. We manufacture and install structural and miscellaneous steel components for the commercial building sector. As our field operations continue to grow, we are seeking a Field Safety Manager to support our crews, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance across our active project sites.
Safety Manager Job Responsibilities
- Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions, and conduct follow-up assessments.
- Plan, implement, and conduct preventative safety and compliance training programs.
- Provide production management with guidance on health and safety issues and ensure project sites comply with applicable industry, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with customers' safety representatives to ensure compliance with project-specific safety requirements.
- Lead incident investigations and assist with employee return-to-work processes and case management.
- Maintain and improve electronic safety logs, documentation, and tracking mechanisms to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Evaluate safety training needs among field production crews.
- Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and other employee safety presentations.
- Support production training to ensure safe work practices are incorporated into daily field operations.
- Foster an atmosphere of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement among craftsmen.
- Report on safety compliance, performance, and culture to the Senior Safety Manager.
- Visit multiple project sites throughout the day and week to interact with field crews, customers, and project leadership.
Work Schedule & Benefits
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position scheduled for approximately 40 hours per week. The Field Safety Manager is eligible for overtime based on business and operational needs. This position requires regular travel between Extreme Steel project sites throughout Northern Virginia and the DC Metro area. Schedule flexibility may be required to support field operations, safety training, inspections, and incident response.

Education, Experience & Licensing Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Safety and Health or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of safety experience in commercial construction, structural steel, industrial construction, or a similar field environment.
- Previous experience supporting jobsite safety inspections, training, incident investigations, or compliance activities preferred.
- Experience working around structural steel erection, welding, rigging, or commercial construction is a plus.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications preferred.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred.
- BCSP STS or STSC certification is a plus.
- OSHA 510/511 preferred; OSHA 500/501 is an advantage.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly between project sites throughout the region.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
