WonderGrounds Play Café is looking for an experienced and friendly a Barista & Play Area Attendant to join our team.
We’re a modern, family-focused café that values quality, creativity, and community. This role is equally focused on delivering an excellent café experience and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-managed play environment for children and families.
The ideal candidate is confident behind the bar, attentive to detail, proactive with cleaning and upkeep, and enjoys working in a lively, family-centered setting.
Responsibilities
Café & Barista Duties
- Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, teas, and other café beverages with consistency and attention to detail.
- Operate and maintain café equipment including espresso machines, grinders, and slushy machines.
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels of coffee beans, syrups, and supplies.
- Handle cash and POS transactions accurately while following food safety standards.
- Assist with light food prep and maintain proper food handling procedures.
Play Area Attendant Duties
- Actively monitor the play area to ensure a safe, clean, and positive environment for children and families.
- Enforce play area rules (socks-only policy, safe play, capacity guidelines) in a professional and friendly manner.
- Engage with children and parents to create a welcoming and enjoyable experience.
- Reset and organize the play space throughout the day, including toys, furniture, and equipment.
Cleaning & Facility Upkeep
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across the entire facility at all times.
- Perform continuous cleaning of high-touch surfaces, play equipment, floors, restrooms, and seating areas.
- Follow daily and weekly cleaning checklists, including deep cleaning tasks.
- Quickly address spills, messes, and sanitation needs as they arise.
- Ensure the café and play areas remain fully stocked, organized, and visually presentable.
General Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure every guest feels welcome.
- Collaborate with the team to maintain a fun, safe, and inviting environment.
- Support a team-first culture by assisting wherever needed during busy periods.
- Optionally assist with social media by capturing photos or short videos.
Requirements
- Previous café or coffee shop experience required, including hands-on use of espresso machines and grinders.
- Comfortable working around children in a fast-paced, family-oriented environment.
- Strong multitasking skills with attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Confident communicating rules and expectations to guests in a friendly, respectful manner.
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification or equivalent (Preferred).
