Job Summary:
The Building Engineer will maintain, repair, and operate building systems across multiple locations. This hands-on role requires a self-driven, proactive individual with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a strong technical background, and the ability to work independently to ensure safe and efficient operation of all building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee HVAC, building automation, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and life safety systems, ensuring all work is completed per lease obligations and industry standards (ASHRAE, BOMA).
- Documentation: Use work order systems to track scheduled maintenance, tenant requests, and emergencies.
- Contractor Management: Coordinate third-party contractors, develop scopes of work, solicit bids, and inspect contractor performance.
- Inspections & Safety: Regular building inspections to ensure safety compliance (OSHA).
- Customer Service: Act as a point of contact for tenants and property managers, addressing concerns with professionalism and urgency.
Key Skills & Qualities:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Independent & Proactive: Take initiative to address issues before they arise, ensuring continuous operation.
- Customer Service: Strong communication skills and a focus on tenant satisfaction.
- Safety-conscious: Compliant with safety regulations and committed to a safe work environment.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 5-7 years in commercial building maintenance preferred.
- Physical Demands: Must lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk, bend, and work in various environments.
- Clean driving Record for Insurance approval
