As an, IT Security Operations Intern you’ll be an integral member of the Whitley Penn IT team and provide firm wide support for information and data security. The IT Security Operations Intern will be responsible for:
- monitoring and reporting of systems and endpoints security events, incidents, and performance
- follow-up troubleshooting and remediation of possible incidents and findings
- implementation and maintenance of various security software, appliances, tools, and configurations across the enterprise as directed
- Reviewing and collecting data and analyzing existing and new security tools, systems, and operations and then research, recommend, plan, and remediate accordingly
- Executing regular data security activities and reporting as directed
- Collaborating with third-party support and service vendors to ensure optimal operational security with no disruption to client service or staff productivity
- Evaluating current security and asset protection procedures relative to passwords, file protection, system audit procedures, user accounts, software installations etc.
- Providing third-level support to Helpdesk team and server administrators when needed

You’re a great fit for the 2026 IT Security Operations Internship if you:
- Have a working knowledge of network, data, and security technologies
- Are an effective communicator and can interact well with all levels of employees and clients.
- Are a team player with high performance standards and are looking to work under supervision and independently
- Take Initiative to manage job related continuing education, stay up to date on current trends in information security
- Are pursuing a degree in Information Technology or related field; or can demonstrate an understanding of or experience in information security specific positions and responsibility
- Have additional information security licenses or certifications, 1 or more years of experience in information security, computer science, or have experience in information technology related work in financial services, retail, or accounting – that’s a plus!
