Overview We are seeking an experienced freelance photographer based in or available to work in New York City for upcoming catalog shoots. This is a paid, per-shoot engagement — not a salaried or full-time role. Ideal candidates bring a strong catalog and commercial photography background, a professional on-set presence, and the ability to deliver polished, print- and web-ready images on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Execute catalog photo shoots according to creative briefs and shot lists
- Collaborate with art directors, stylists, and production teams on set
- Photograph products, lifestyle scenes, and/or models for catalog and marketing use
- Ensure proper lighting, composition, and technical quality for all shots
- Deliver edited, high-resolution images within agreed turnaround times
- Communicate proactively about scheduling, equipment needs, and shoot logistics
- Maintain professional conduct and reliability across all engagements
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years of professional photography experience (minimum)
- Demonstrated catalog shoot experience — portfolio must include catalog or commercial work
- Proficiency with professional camera systems (full-frame DSLR or mirrorless)
- Strong command of studio and natural lighting setups
- Experience working with creative direction and adhering to brand guidelines
- Post-production proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop
- Reliable, punctual, and able to meet tight deadlines
- Based in or available to work in New York City
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience shooting fashion, apparel, or lifestyle catalog content
- Familiarity with tethered shooting workflows
- Existing relationships with local studio facilities in New York City
- Experience working with diverse talent and on-location shoots
Compensation This is a per-shoot engagement. Rates are negotiated based on shoot complexity, duration, and deliverables. Day rates and usage fees are discussed during the application process. This is not a salaried or benefits-eligible position.
