Title: Caregiver
Department: Resident Assistance
SUMMARY
Provides Caregiver assistance for developmentally and mentally challenged residents by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Provide agency standards and quality of care that will optimize each resident's level of well-being and capacity for independence.
Orients new residents to the “Resident's Rights”, daily schedules, the physical layout of the facility, emergency evacuation procedures, agency, and facility policies and procedures.
- Ensuring the supervision of the client at all times
- Assisting the resident with basic personal care and moving or walking around
- Providing the resident with emotional support
- Monitoring the residents' vital signs
- Refraining from performing additional unauthorized functions
- Detecting changes in the condition of the resident alerting the Admin and the Registered Nurse staff when the residents' health changes
- Documenting and providing verbal or written reports of the resident's daily activities
- Maintaining confidentiality of the resident's information
- Adhering to relevant policies, procedures, and standards
Attends staffing meetings, and assists with the development and implementation of individual plans of care.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and /or EXPERIENCE
CBRF certification is required within 90 days of hire
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CBRF certification is required. CPR certification within 6 months of hire
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must have been deemed physically fit by a medical provider and had a negative Tuberculosis test before working with the residents. Must have full Covid Vaccination.

The employee must frequently lift and/ or move 100 pounds, utilizing patient lifting and moving equipment (Hoyer lift and other equipment) after being properly trained by the agency RN and Trainers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic household cleaning and laundry chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Special precautions will be taken to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus: Practice social distancing. Wear PPE (masks and gloves), sanitize, and disinfect facilities and common surfaces frequently.
