Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, fryers, mixers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen appliances to uphold food safety standards in production
- Follow food handling procedures diligently to ensure hygiene and prevent cross-contamination
- Support the culinary team in adhering to recipe guidelines and presentation standards
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal prep and service flow
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or culinary environment preferred
- Knowledge of dietary department practices and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Familiarity with menu planning, food preparation, and catering processes
- Strong understanding of safety standards in food production and food safety management
- Proficiency in operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent knife skills with proper slicing techniques
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in meal preparation
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff
- Demonstrated commitment to cleanliness, food handling protocols, and safety standards in the food industry
