The New Interdisciplinary School (NIS) is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and collaborative Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. This position provides services to preschool-aged children with developmental delays and disabilities in a supportive, child-centered educational environment.
The ideal candidate is passionate about helping children develop the skills they need to succeed in school and daily life while working closely with teachers, therapists, and families.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate students and develop individualized treatment plans based on IEP goals.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services in individual and small group settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, and other members of the educational team.
- Participate in CPSE meetings, parent conferences, and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation and progress notes
- Recommend adaptive equipment, classroom modifications, and sensory supports to maximize student success.
- Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and agency regulations.
Qualifications
- Current New York State Occupational Therapist license.
- Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- School-based or pediatric experience preferred, but enthusiastic new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel between our school locations in Yaphank, Medford, Middle Island, and Islip.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
