LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH EMT EXPERIENCE WANTING TO TRANSFER THEIR SKILLS INTO A PRIVATE ORTHOPAEDICS PRACTICE
Reports directly to the Ancillary Services Manager. Responsible for providing both quality radiologic images per physician protocols and patient safety guidelines as well as DME and casting application within the established workflow for the clinic. Manage DME staff, insurance compliance with all regulatory measures, inventory, and assist with all functions relative to the efficiency, profitability and compliance of the DME department. Strive to provide outstanding customer service in all aspects of the FLEX role and serve as point of leadership for the team, exhibiting professional and ethical communication and work habits.
DME Supervisor Duties:
a. Assists in the hiring of staff and assessing staff volumes based on true utilization data
b. Serves as the lead trainer for casting/DME including application of all casts/splints and DME according to professional standards, providing the appropriate support, protection and healing for the patient’s injury or condition. Includes coordination of any outside casting courses when applicable.
c. Helps enforce performance measures and standards for the team
d. Assists in maintaining quality control for DME inventory including loss prevention
e. Assists xray supervisor with schedule development on a biweekly basis to maximize productivity and balance staff workloads
f. Ensure consistent implementation of established protocols, guidelines and procedures according to the SOP manuals for the DME department; change as required to maintain efficiencies
g. Maintains compliance with Medicare regulations for DME - change processes as needed.
h. Assist with development or improvement of departmental workflows and protocols in coordination with Ancillary Services Manager
i. Responsible for maintaining and ordering casting material and DME inventory at all locations and reconciling any issue with these orders
j. Maintains relationships with internal staff and management departments for other DME needs
k. Maintains current vendor relationships and works with Ancillary Services Manager to research and vet new vendors, products, etc to maintain highest quality standards and financial margins
l. Helps with onboarding of new physicians, protocol development, inventory builds, and coaching for DME utilization
m. Helps with physician education as needed for compliance and workflow efficiency/changes in coordination with Ancillary Services Manager
n. Assists with assigned DME related audits and reports as assigned by the Ancillary Services Manager
o. Responsible as one of the primary contacts for patient and physician complaints related to DME/casting in coordination with the Ancillary Services Manager
p. Responsible for DME compliance binder management, updates, etc for all locations as well as ensuring each location is DME site compliant
q. Cross train and learn other tasks within the EMR and inventory management system to assist with all workflows
r. Assist with invoice reconciliation for DME inventory items
s. Assist with staff management including annual evaluations, disciplinary action, etc.
t. Assists in developing a strong team atmosphere within the department wherein each team member takes initiative and assists others
u. Foster stronger, more open lines of communication and relationship within the FLEX department and the clinical staff
Job Specifications/demands:
a. Typical Physical Demands: Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a telephone, computer and office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires ability to lift 40 lbs. on occasion.
b. High School Diploma/GED or College degree with three years of medical office experience within health care management.
c. Strong knowledge of federal and state laws and requirements relating to healthcare management.
d. Strong competencies in the areas of leadership and team development, mentoring and situational assessment skills and with proven track record in building and developing high performing teams.
e. A change agent and capable of guiding the organization in initiating various change management initiatives with the view of leading and guiding the team.
