This role ensures diagnostic accuracy, supports medically necessary treatment recommendations, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based services to children and families. When clinically indicated, the psychologist may conduct direct evaluations to support diagnostic clarification and differential diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities
- Review clinical intake information, developmental assessments, behavioral data, mental health records, and ABA clinic documentation.
- Review ADOS-2 administration procedures, scoring, and clinical reports to ensure accuracy, validity, and alignment with diagnostic criteria.
- Provide diagnostic confirmation and clinical sign-off for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Review and approve treatment recommendations and plans to support medical necessity, payer requirements, and clinical compliance.
- Conduct focused clinical interviews, observations, and evaluations when additional diagnostic clarification is needed.
- Support differential diagnosis considerations, including ASD, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, and developmental delays.
- Collaborate with BCBAs, mental health clinicians, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other members of the clinical team.
- Participate in caregiver feedback sessions and diagnostic discussions as needed.
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation consistent with professional standards, licensing requirements, payer expectations, and organizational policies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Doctorate degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted license as a Licensed Psychologist in North Carolina (or eligibility for NC licensure).
- 3–5 years of post-licensure experience in pediatric developmental assessment.
- Experience diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder and related developmental and behavioral health conditions.
- Strong knowledge of:
- ADOS-2 assessment procedures and interpretation
- DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria
- Pediatric developmental evaluations
- ABA and interdisciplinary treatment approaches
Pay: From $75.00 per hour
