Report to: QA & Food Safety Manager
Role Summary: The Quality Assurance Technologist is responsible for ensuring that product being produced conforms to the customer’s requirements by inspecting raw materials, manufactured components, completed products and service delivery processes. The Quality Assurance Technologist will label or segregate the items that don’t meet requirements and notify supervisors or other responsible parties.
Shift: The company reserves the right to schedule shifts based on operational requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor product safety and quality, production process and personnel GMP practice to ensure compliance to established procedures (SOP’s), standards and requirements
- Assist the QA Department in development, implementation and administration of Food Safety Management Programs, and related policies and procedures
· Perform suppliers food safety & food quality audits
· Investigate and resolve product and process problems related to quality issues and initiates Hold procedures and Corrective Action report
· Follow up in-house calibration and validation of instruments and equipment
· Coordinate in-house environmental monitoring of production area
· Coordinate samples for Gluten-Free Certification quarterly validation
- Assist in SQF, Gluten Free, Organic, Kosher, Government, FT, RFA, and customer’s audits.
- Perform in process line inspection (Line Parameters, Weights, Labels, Production Codes, Metal Detection).
- Assist in investigating and identifying root causes of product and process problems related to quality and ensure that corrective actions are taken and recorded.
- Inspect incoming raw and packaging materials and record non- conforming ingredients and products as identified or reported.
- Follow all company and department policies and procedures, including: GMP, SQF, HACCP, Health & Safety, Attendance, etc.
- Follow safe work practices and procedures as per company policies and procedures and Work Safe regulations.
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Food Science or related field
- Experience in Quality Control/ Assurance in a food manufacturing facility (pharmaceutical, vitamins, beverage, and/or cosmetics experience will be considered).
- Experience working within policies & procedures, and understanding of compliance, in relation to regulatory bodies including HACCP, SQF, CFIA – Chain of Responsibilities.
- Knowledge and work experience in GFSI (SQF/BRC), Organic, FDA, CFIA audits would be considered as an asset
- Demonstrated ability to record and interpret data and write reports.
- Understanding of Health and Safety in a Manufacturing environment, with a safety-oriented approach to work and to others
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be punctual, proactive, and possess excellent work ethics
- Ability to work shifting schedules (day/evening/night), weekends, and holidays
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility. Able to prioritize workload, understand a sense of urgency and effectively meet deadlines.

Working Conditions:
- This environment has allergens.
- Able to sit and stand in an office setting and also walk around on the production floor.
- Must wear protective clothing, such as coats, hair nets and safety shoes when on the production floor
- Exposure to machinery sounds and loud noise levels
- Ability to push, pull, bend and lift in an office as well as production floor setting.
Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
