Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Auto Body Shop Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely estimates and supplements, while serving as the key liaison between the customer, insurance companies, and the repair team. You’ll be responsible for preparing repair estimates, coordinating with all major insurance carriers, and ensuring the customer experience is smooth and professional from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate Writing:
- Prepare detailed, accurate repair estimates using estimating software (e.g., CCC One, Mitchell).
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to assess visible and hidden damage.
- Identify necessary parts, labor, paint materials, and procedures needed for repairs.
- Insurance Coordination:
- Work directly with all insurance companies to obtain approvals, handle claim submissions, and negotiate repairs as needed.
- Write and submit supplements for additional damages or labor discovered during repairs.
- Understand and comply with DRP (Direct Repair Program) guidelines, where applicable.
- Customer Service:
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner.
- Explain estimates, repair procedures, and timelines clearly to customers.
- Maintain open lines of communication with customers throughout the repair process.
- Workflow Management:
- Coordinate with technicians, parts department, and paint team to ensure timely and efficient repair operations.
- Monitor job progress and update estimates as required.
- Review final repairs for quality and completeness before delivery.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure all repair documentation, photos, and estimate files are complete and properly stored.
- Maintain compliance with insurance requirements, OEM repair procedures, and shop protocols.
- Keep current on I-CAR, OEM, and insurance updates and training.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an estimator in an auto body or collision repair shop (3+ years preferred)
- Proficient in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., CCC One, Mitchell)
- Strong knowledge of vehicle structure, repair processes, and refinish procedures
- Experience working with DRPs and a wide range of insurance companies
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license required
- I-CAR certifications or willingness to obtain (preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
