Seeking a full-time experienced maintenance technician to provide general household repairs (handyman services). Icon Management is a locally owned property management company that handles the day-to-day operations of many rental properties for our clients that are mostly located throughout the Greater Kalamazoo County area (homes, townhomes, duplexes, apartments).
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the overall maintenance of our properties, resident service requests, make-ready turns, and emergency on-call shifts. The ideal candidate will strive to create happy residents by providing superior customer service and responding timely to service requests. Must ensure budgets for our clients are kept in check and your PER JOB record keeping for hours and materials used is submitted timely and accurately.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Travel to multiple off-site properties throughout your shift to perform a variety of home repairs / tasks both inside & outside.
- Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner based on priority
- MUST be very detailed with record keeping for tracking your labor hours and materials used on a per job basis via our online apps
- Participate in make ready turns for both conventional and student housing
- Participate in small renovations of homes as needed
- Follow preventive maintenance guidelines
- Work well independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to timely and professionally communicate with residents relating to service calls
- Assist in rotating coverage of 24/7 emergency calls with other team members
- Ability to work flexible and OT hours when needed; most notably evening and weekend hours during our student turn season (August)
Knowledge, Skills & Experience required:
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
- 2+ years’ experience in apartment or single-family home maintenance
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and insurance
- Basic understanding of using apps for data entry of work performed
- MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS
- Experience with plumbing, electrical, drywall, paint, and carpentry
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Capable of recording completed tasks legibly and keeping track of all job hours, expenses, receipts on a per job basis
- Must be able to pass a background and drug screening
- MUST live in or within close proximity to City of Kalamazoo

- Hourly wage based on skills & experience
