Primary Duties:
Accountable for ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local/state regulations, conducting regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments across both distribution facilities. Working with DC management to updated SOP’s, ensure MHE checklists (per shift) and strap audits (as prescribed) are done, maintain SDS documentation and ensure proper chemical labeling and storage, develop and implement EHS policies tailored to CAA operations and chemical handling, oversee safe use, handling, and storage of primers, adhesives, and 99% isopropyl alcohol, work with DC Management to update SOP’s (this position can aid with safety/risk assessment but would require guidance on actual procedures involved, support updating LMS training modules, support workplace injuries as needed with accompanying injured workers for injury or drug screen appointments, support new hire orientation with safety training and PPE requirements, monitor and enforce MHE safety protocols and training, lead emergency response drills and first aid readiness, investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, lead root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventative actions, maintain incident logs and submit regulatory reports as required, monitor waste disposal, recycling, and hazardous waste compliance, coordinate with vendors for proper disposal of chemical waste, support sustainability initiatives within DC operations, head reintroduction and continued implementation of NABIS, implement and monitor KSB’s, work with DC Management to accomplish task and goals from EHS and Sustainability Directors, support (or become) Safety Lead of Safety Champions Program, implement Safety Committees at DC’s, ensure required inspections are timely performed on first extinguishers, emergency lighting, AED’s, first aid boxes, fire suppression systems, improve DC safety appreciation programs to reinforce positive behaviors, may be requested to support DC operations outside of safety actions, will partner and work with AGR Safety Team around requirements and initiatives and performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications preferred as related to the DC Coordinator – Safety Position:
- Ability to communication across many levels and teams.
- Manage safety results and KPI ‘s within the CDC.
- 5 years’ experience working in a distribution/manufacturing setting, preferably in a time sensitive environment in a distribution (preferred) or manufacturing setting.
- Experience managing safety functions within a distribution setting (preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience with distribution center issues such as safety, quality and operational procedures.
- Basic understanding of flow and process improvement.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate to create positive work environment including team building, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Working with Human Resources, handles employee-related issues including counseling, corrective action, hiring, and terminations.
- Ability to partner with the Safety team to drive DC wide safety improvements.
- Proactive, innovative problem-solving skills and excellent organizational skills.
- Able to travel to the PDC (Arizona) as needed to support Safety activity at that location.
- High energy, self-starting individual with ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent customer relations and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficient in the English language (verbal and written).
- Prior Materials Handling Equipment experience (example: platform order picker, forklift, reach truck); must obtain and maintain appropriate certifications.
- Without assistance, must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing from 1 to 70 lbs.
- Able to work at heights of up to 30 feet.
- Able to attend off shift meetings.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record according to company policy.
Hours:
Primary, Monday - Friday 1st Shift (some off shift coverage if needed)
Hourly Pay:
$22.00 - $29.00, based on experience
