We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct initial patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental concerns.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and infection prevention measures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their individual needs.
- Assist with chairside procedures during general dentistry treatments, including pediatric dentistry cases, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe clinical environment.
- Support the dental team by managing dental equipment, sterilization processes, and inventory of supplies in accordance with healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including medical coding where applicable for billing purposes.
- Uphold professional standards by staying current with advances in dental terminology, medical terminology, and best practices in patient care.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice clinically.
- Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records (EHR).
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and medical records management.
- Experience performing X-ray procedures safely while maintaining radiation safety standards.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control practices.
- Ability to perform pediatric dentistry procedures with sensitivity toward pediatric patients’ needs.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on oral health maintenance.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to maintaining patient confidentiality and data security.
- Familiarity with medical imaging technology and documentation review processes is preferred.
