OPTION 1:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in biological science, physical science, criminology, or a closely related discipline that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.
OPTION 2:
Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units from an accredited college or university that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience as a Registered Nurse, Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Assistant, or Investigator.
OPTION 3:
Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units from an accredited college or university that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.
AND
Experience: One (1) year full-time, paid work experiences as a Pathology Assistant or Morgue Attendant assisting in post mortem examinations and related duties.
License: Possession of a valid California Class "C" Driver's License is required for all 3 options.
As a condition of employment with the Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator's Office, candidates must undergo and pass a thorough and rigid background investigation, polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination, and medical and psychological examinations (background materials for failed candidates are retained for three years). The background investigation includes employment/credit histories, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified.

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.

Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8).
