Floor Manager – Job Description (The Gage, Chicago)
Overview
The Floor Manager at The Gage is responsible for overseeing front-of-house (FOH) operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining high service standards in a fast-paced, upscale dining environment known for craft cocktails and wood-fired cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service

Lead the dining room during service to ensure top-tier hospitality and guest satisfaction

Interact with guests (“touch tables”) and resolve complaints promptly

Monitor wait times, reservations, and seating flow to optimize service
Staff Supervision & Leadership
-
Supervise hosts, servers, bartenders, and support staff
-
Conduct pre-shift meetings (review menu, specials, service notes)
-
Train, coach, and motivate team members to maintain service standards
-
Enforce company policies and maintain team accountability
Operations Management
-
Oversee daily floor operations including service pacing, cleanliness, and ambiance
-
Coordinate with kitchen (BOH) to ensure smooth service execution

Assist with scheduling, staffing levels, and shift coverage
Financial & Administrative Duties
-
Handle opening/closing procedures (cash handling, drawer counts, reconciliation)

Audit staff timekeeping and ensure compliance with procedures

Prepare daily reports and shift recaps
Compliance & Standards

Maintain health, safety, and sanitation standards
-
Ensure the restaurant meets brand and hospitality expectations
-
Support inventory awareness and operational efficiency
Required Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

3 plus years’ experience in food & beverage and hospitality industries required.

1 year of restaurant management experience required.

ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate and BASSET Certificate

Strong leadership and team-building ability

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays required)
Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000 per year, commensurate based on experience.
