We have an immediate need for licensed Physical Therapist Assistants with at least 1 year of home health experience, for primary responsibilities in communities in and around Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander. Our PTA's help patients improve their mobility and safety, ensuring they make progress towards their specific goals. You will work closely and under the direction of the physical therapist, treating patients with medical problems or other conditions that limit their ability to move or perform functional activities. This is a contract position and rates are per visit, with some hourly time allowed for mandatory training and inservices. Experience in Kinnser EMR is a plus! Our coverage area is more limited than most agencies and generally within 30 miles of Georgetown, TX. We expect excellence in all aspects of care and documentation, and have a robust QA process as well as tailored orientation programs that include some on site and some in office training.
Responsibilities
- Implement selected components of care and interventions in a technically competent manner
- Instruct, counsel, and progress patients effectively in exercise programs to help them meet their goals.
- Identify patient’s needs and exhibit compassion, caring, and empathy to individual differences
- Recommend options, courses of action, or modifications in selected treatments ensuring patient’s progress, safety, and comfort.
- Apply the latest research related to restoring function, reducing symptoms frequency, and preventing injury
- Complete documentation in a timely manner to support the plan of care, and allow for proper quality assurance and billing practices
- Perform selected data collection and obtain accurate information
- Measure performance and report on the patient’s medical record
- Participate in patient status reporting through weekly supervisory meetings with PT's and case conferences as appropriate
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards
- Ensure continued competence and updated field knowledge
Skills
- Proven working experience as a physical therapist assistant, preferably with a minimum of 1 year of home health experience
- Excellent knowledge of PT best practices and standards
- Hands-on experience with therapeutic exercises, functional training, and physical modalities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and instruct effectively with different levels of the learner; experience in dementia/ cognitive decline is a plus.
- Experience and willingness to work and communicate collaboratively with supervising PT's, families and patients
- Proficiency in Kinnser/EMR or dedicated willingness to learn it, and exemplary in documenting skilled care.
- License to practice in TX.
- Associate or BS degree in PTA
