As an intern supporting the Clerks and IT divisions, you will gain practical experience in:

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under close/immediate supervision, assists in providing administrative, program, and project support to a Town department; researches, analyzes, summarizes, and interprets data from various sources; assists in preparing reports according to established procedures and practices; and performs related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives close/immediate supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This classification may be used for persons who have completed academic requirements and are working toward professional certification or registration, for persons for whom experience is a prerequisite for entrance to graduate school, or for persons who need work experience in a specific field to obtain a diploma or degree. Assignments help the Town achieve program and project objectives and provide the incumbent with on-the-job exposure in a professional or technical field of study related to the Town’s services, programs, and projects. Performs a variety of administrative, program-specific, and project-related assignments in support of an assigned Town department to receive on-the-job exposure and gain practical experience in a professional or technical field of study.

Researches, analyzes, summarizes, and interprets information and data from various sources; checks data and analyses; prepares and assembles reports, manuals, articles, and other informational materials; may conduct presentations of findings and recommendations.

Performs a variety of office and administrative tasks in support of Town departments including answering phones, sorting and distributing mail, filing, and photocopying.

Maintains and updates record systems and databases; verifies accuracy of information; enters and updates department and project files; retrieves information and generates reports as required.

Writes reports, letters, memoranda, and other documents.

Performs related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- Mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; this is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required; occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information; ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 10 pounds.
