Position Summary
Renewed Hope Ranch is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and educational support to adolescents in a residential treatment setting. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students with diverse learning, emotional, and behavioral needs achieve academic success while collaborating with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications.
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with families, school districts, and treatment team members.
- Create a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and positive behavior.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the individual learning needs of students with varying academic abilities.
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, residential staff, and administrators to support each student's educational and therapeutic goals.
- Coordinate with local school districts to ensure appropriate educational services, credit recovery, and online coursework.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate educational records and documentation.
- Utilize positive behavior supports and trauma-informed practices in the classroom.
- Support students in developing executive functioning, self-advocacy, and independent learning skills.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local special education laws and regulations.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Current Special Education teaching license or certification required (or eligibility for licensure in the state).
- Special Education endorsement required.
- Experience writing and implementing IEPs.
- Experience working with adolescents with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges preferred.
- Experience in a residential treatment center, alternative education program, or therapeutic school is highly desirable.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and positive behavior interventions is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
