Under the direction of the Pro Shop Supervisor at the Ice Centre at the Promenade, the Pro Shop Associate supports the daily operations of the Pro Shop. This role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, assisting with retail sales, maintaining shop operations, and supporting rink-related duties as assigned.
Provide exceptional customer service to all guests
Assist customers with retail sales and product selection
Size and fit customers for hockey and figure skating equipment
Perform basic repairs on hockey and figure skating equipment
Operate skate sharpening equipment and demonstrate sharpening knowledge
Maintain strong product knowledge to effectively assist customers
Ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper product placement within the Pro Shop
Assist with inventory control, pricing, and order processing
Support planning and execution of seasonal sales and promotions
Assist with booking and receiving orders
Support rink operations outside of the Pro Shop as needed
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times
Minimum age of 18 by the first day of employment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently for short periods
Dependable, punctual, and reliable transportation
Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment with frequent distractions
Strong safety awareness and proactive approach to maintaining a safe workplace
Basic knowledge of hockey and figure skating
Clear and effective communication skills with guests and team members
Ability to work collaboratively and courteously within a team
Demonstrated product knowledge and skate sharpening skills while maintaining high customer service standards
Ability to remain focused and limit personal phone use during work hours
Shop Hours: Mon-Fri - 4pm-10pm, Sat-Sun - 9am-10pm
Weekend shifts are split, example: Open (9am-3pm) or Close (3pm-10pm)
MUST be available to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights and holidays.
Ability to lift up to 50 pound
Regular interaction with mechanical equipment, including skate sharpening machines
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
High school diploma or equivalent required
Basic knowledge of hockey and figure skating
Prior customer service experience preferred
Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
