We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Traveling Ophthalmologist (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or MD) to join our team in providing comprehensive Veterans Compensation and Pension (C&P) examinations across multiple locations. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough ophthalmologic examinations on veterans, including assessments of visual acuity, intraocular pressure, ocular motility, and external eye structures.
- Review and interpret medical histories, prior ophthalmic records, and relevant clinical data to inform evaluations.
- Perform specialized tests such as slit-lamp examinations, fundoscopy, and visual field testing as needed.
- Document examination findings accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or other platforms used for VA documentation.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and medical confidentiality standards throughout all patient interactions and recordkeeping.
- Travel between designated veteran facilities to provide consistent ophthalmic services, ensuring timely completion of all required exams and reports.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification or eligibility in Ophthalmology.
- Post-residency experience in clinical ophthalmology, including pediatrics, adult care, or senior care settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy of the eye, and medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology.
- Experience with clinical research or clinical trials related to ophthalmic conditions is preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms; experience with medical coding and medical records management is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and vital signs assessment during examinations.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for patient privacy and data security.
- Ability to perform in acute care environments with precision and professionalism while traveling between multiple locations.
