We are a growing small business looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, and dependable accounting professional to join our team full time. This role is primarily focused on managing and overseeing the financial side of our business, while also being willing to lend a hand with client communication and general office support when needed.
The right person must have strong QuickBooks Desktop experience and be comfortable working in a small business environment where accuracy, follow-through, and the ability to wear more than one hat are important.
This position is ideal for someone who has bookkeeping, accounting management, or controller-level experience and can help ownership maintain accurate financial records, understand cash flow, monitor job costs, improve internal processes, and keep billing organized.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing and overseeing day-to-day accounting activity
- Working in QuickBooks Desktop to maintain accurate financial records
- Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, vendor accounts, and customer accounts
- Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Creating and sending customer invoices
- Reviewing customer payments, deposits, balances, and outstanding invoices
- Helping clients with billing questions, payment concerns, and account balances
- Monitoring job/project-related costs and expenses
- Preparing and reviewing basic financial reports for ownership
- Helping track cash flow and upcoming financial obligations
- Identifying accounting discrepancies and helping resolve them
- Supporting payroll, sales tax, 1099s, and year-end accountant requests as applicable
- Helping improve internal accounting, billing, and office processes
- Answering phones and assisting clients when needed
- Learning enough about our pool products, construction process, and common client questions to help guide clients or direct them to the right team member
- Assisting with general office support as needed in a small business setting
Requirements:
- Must have hands-on experience with QuickBooks Desktop
- Prior bookkeeping, accounting manager, or controller-level experience
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Ability to review financial records and identify errors or inconsistencies
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills
- Professional and patient communication style with clients and team members
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial, employee, and client information
- Willingness to help with phones, client questions, and general office needs when necessary
- Experience with construction, service, trades, job costing, or project-based businesses is a plus

The ideal person for this role is someone who can take ownership of the accounting side of the business and help provide ownership with a clear, accurate picture of where things stand financially. We are looking for someone who is confident in QuickBooks Desktop, understands small business accounting, and can help keep billing, reporting, and job costs organized.
Because we are a small business, this person should also be willing to step in and assist with client communication when needed. While the primary focus of the role is accounting and financial oversight, a team-minded attitude and willingness to help clients is important.
Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Schedule and hours can be discussed based on business needs and experience.
Compensation:
Pay will be based on experience, QuickBooks Desktop knowledge, accounting background, and ability to take on controller-level responsibilities.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
