Overview
The Medical Assistant at Harper Health supports a high-touch, concierge primary care experience by combining excellent clinical skills with warm, anticipatory service. The MA works closely with physicians to deliver efficient, personalized, relationship-based care for a small panel of members.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical care preparation
- Open and close the clinic for the care of our patients and team members
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and verify demographics, identification, and insurance
- Direct efficiency by preparing exam rooms and stocking necessary clinical supplies to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner
Phlebotomy, diagnostics, and lab workflow
- Perform high-quality venipuncture; collect and label blood, urine, and swab specimens accurately; manage send-out and in-office testing, including point-of-care tests (e.g. flu, COVID, strep, urinalysis)
- Assist physicians with medical procedures at the comprehensive physicals, including vital signs, injections, audiology screenings, body composition scans, VO2 Max/RMR testing
- Maintain an organized lab: monitor supplies, anticipate needs, and coordinate ordering, so that the clinic lab is always ready
Care coordination and member experience
- Answer and triage incoming patient calls and messages through Harper Health’s communication platform, routing inquiries to the appropriate physician or care team
- Facilitate and plan weekly schedules, proactively connecting with patients to schedule their visits and retrieve medical records, as needed
- Collaborate with physicians to manage lab orders, prior authorizations, refills, and test results
Operations, technology, and practice support
- Manage clinic inventory: order and receive office and medical supplies
- Use Harper Health’s EHR and clinical tools across multiple healthcare technology platforms accurately and efficiently
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; CMA/RMA or equivalent certification strongly preferred
- 5+ years of experience in primary care, internal medicine, or concierge environment preferred; strong phlebotomy experience required
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and comfort adopting new digital tools and workflows
