Inside Sales Representative Full-Time | Financial Services
Position Overview
The Inside Sales Representative is a full-time position responsible for handling inbound and/or outbound customer service and sales calls based on business needs. This role effectively answers questions related to existing contracts and products, makes appropriate financial services product recommendations utilizing the assigned product portfolio, and is responsible for making a defined range of decisions while escalating to leadership when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize professional licensure, training, and experience to provide advice and make informed life insurance and/or annuity recommendations for new and/or existing customers based on client needs.
- Prepare illustrations associated with approved life insurance applications using data entry points that match the approved application.
- Provide professional and courteous service, making independent decisions regarding client requests and resolving concerns, with the ability to escalate situations to management as necessary.
- Review, research, and/or analyze necessary policy data to resolve client inquiries or concerns via telephone, written correspondence, email, or online chat.
- Conduct follow-up calls to provide additional information and/or assist with application completion as needed.
- Answer inbound calls from current customers regarding policy status information and provide instructions to initiate a change or transaction, including caller verification and delivering documented information.
- Conduct outbound calls to existing customers for non-sales purposes, including verifying/confirming information, obtaining instructions regarding in-house service requests, and premium due reminders.
- Process service transactions using prescribed administrative or peripheral systems, including address changes, ownership changes, and disbursement requests, following documented procedures and escalating errors to management.
- Process new business applications in accordance with business process rules and state-specific requirements; identify not-in-good-order applications and take appropriate remediation steps; authorize issuance of in-good-order applications.
- Index documents in imaging workflow systems to accurately identify document types, including policy numbers, customer names, source of business, form types, and other key identifiers.
- Complete business processes to support licensing and appointment of producers, including data entry, quality checks, training checks, and license verification.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Life and Health Insurance License in home state (must be obtained within 45 days of hire)
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong keyboarding skills with attention to detail and high accuracy
- Ability to follow documented procedures and execute transactions with a high degree of independence
- Ability to identify when documented procedures fail or produce unexpected results and escalate accordingly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt based on business needs
- Ability to consistently work scheduled shifts as assigned

Work Setting & Physical Demands
- Works in an office setting; remains in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
- Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information with customers and associates on a regular basis.
- Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports, and forms via paper and electronic documents.
- Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports, and forms using prescribed formats and proper grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
- Extended hours may be required during peak workloads or special projects.
