Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and slicers
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety standards at all times
- Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, slicing using proper techniques, and portioning ingredients
- Follow food handling procedures to ensure hygiene and prevent cross-contamination
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to coordinate meal production and meet service deadlines
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient quality and preparation methods
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Knowledge of safety standards in food production and food safety management practices
- Ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining consistency in dish quality
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel
- Experience with dietary department requirements and dietary aide procedures is a plus
- Familiarity with catering services, meal preparation, and serving processes enhances versatility in the role
