Responsible for performing building maintenance tasks such as wall repair, minor plumbing tasks, painting, daily custodial tasks, replacing ceiling tiles, and lock and door hardware repair; performs grounds maintenance; responsible for performing routine car maintenance and ensuring scheduled maintenance is performed; responsible for Vehicle Daily Log reconciliation and coordination; Responsible for furniture and equipment repairs; erects and alters Herman Miller furniture; monitors supply levels and requests orders; reviews and distributes incoming shipments; provides coverage to mailroom when needed and assist with UPS package drop off and pick up when needed; Serves on in-house safety committee. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: *If a driver’s license is required, a copy must be sent to your recruiter following the interview.* Education – High School Diploma; Six months of experience in a building trades or mechanical building trade; Valid Driver’s License is required at time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment; Ability to lift and move furniture and supplies up to and over 50 pounds, utilizing industrial safety proper lifting techniques.
Preferred Qualifications: One year of work experience in general and building maintenance trade. Six months’ experience in setting up and adjusting Office Panel Systems. Six months’ experience in ordering and maintaining supply levels; Vocational training in building trades or mechanical building program.

Security Clearance: A background check (KBI - criminal background, welfare fraud, driver's license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF. Must maintain security clearance throughout employment.
Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas. Applicants (including non-residents) who receive a formal job offer for a State job, are required to obtain a valid Tax Clearance within ten (10) days of the job offer. A Tax Clearance can be obtained through the Kansas Department of Revenue who reviews individual accounts for compliance with Kansas Tax Law.

The person in this position has access to protected health information (PHI) under the provisions of the Heath Information Portability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) Privacy Rule. PHI must be treated in accordance with the provisions of the HIPAA Privacy Regulation including the requirements for safeguarding, releasing and recording the release of such information. The person will receive training in the provision of the HIPAA Privacy Regulations as they relate to the duties of this position and has signed a confidentiality agreement.
In addition to the tasks listed below, the incumbent is expected to communicate the Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of the agency to peers, clients and the public; identify personal strengths and developmental needs to increase job performance and long-term career growth. Continually analyze work processes, seek new approaches and make recommendations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the agency. Works in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service. Uses free time, as available, to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments. BUILDING MAINTENANCE:
This position is responsible for performing building maintenance tasks such as wall repair, minor plumbing tasks, painting, daily custodial tasks, replacing ceiling tiles, and lock and door hardware repair using appropriate tools and materials in order that the building remains a safe, pleasant working environment. Incumbent performs grounds maintenance tasks such as collecting litter on grounds, sweeping sidewalks as necessary, mowing, and trimming grass as necessary, trimming of bushes as necessary, snow removal of sidewalks and entryways and reporting to supervisor any areas of possible concern in order that the grounds remain attractive and safe for staff and clients.
STATE CAR MAINTENANCE:
Incumbent is responsible for the maintenance of the state cars by performing routine, and on demand, operator level checks; routinely, and on demand due to spills, etc., clean interior of vehicles; ensuring that repairs and scheduled maintenance are performed expediently and through the most economically means. Informs supervisor of any major problems with any vehicle and will secure approval from appropriate staff before proceeding with any major repairs or maintenance. All this is accomplished in order that the cars are in safe, clean, running order for employees. Ensures that the information in each vehicle logbook is current and in good condition. At the end of each month, reconciles car logs, prepares Monthly Car Activity Log and makes copies of logs and receipts and forwards originals/copies to appropriate staff and places copies in local files. Creates new Vehicle Daily Log monthly for staff use and inserts in logbook.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Moves, assembles, repairs furniture and equipment; erects and alters Herman Miller furniture. This requires the incumbent to be knowledgeable and skilled in the installation and functional use of the Herman Miller components. Uses appropriate tools and materials in accomplishing these tasks so furniture and equipment provide a functional and ergonomically correct work environment for staff. Repairs furnishings or non-IT equipment. Informs supervisor of repairs that are needed on furnishings which may require an external repair source. Assists with transport of furnishings or equipment to repair agencies or other destinations. Responsible for setup of Conference Rooms for events.
SAFETY & SECURITY, INVENTORY/ SUPPLY ROOM & MAIL ROOM
Incumbent is responsible for ensuring first-aid kits are fully stocked. Serves on an in-house safety committee to assist with building evacuations according to established safety plan. Will help promote safety awareness in the office.
Monitors supply levels and requests orders to replenish supplies, checks incoming shipments by comparing what was ordered and what was received and forwards packing list/invoices to appropriate staff; puts supplies away in storerooms. Delivers supplies to appropriate staff on routine and on demand basis. This is accomplished in order that adequate supply levels are maintained and organized in each storeroom.
Will provide coverage to the mail room when needed. Will pick up mail from the post office, sort and distribute when needed. Will send packages vis UPS when needed. Will deliver required packages, files and/or mail as needed to community partners and other agencies when needed.
