Job description
Acton Academy Guide – A Call to the Courageous
Location: Acton Academy North Broward.
Position Type: Part-Time OR Full-Time
Are you searching for more than just a job? Do you believe that children are far more capable than traditional education allows? Are you ready to help transform the way the world views learning?
At Acton Academy North Broward, we’re not looking for traditional teachers. We’re looking for Guides—curious souls, courageous mentors, and lifelong learners who believe that young people can change the world if given the tools, trust, and freedom to do so.
Who We Are
We are part of a growing network of learner-driven schools designed to guide young people on their Hero’s Journey—a quest to discover their calling and develop the mindset and character to live it out. Our studios are places of wonder, challenge, collaboration, and growth—not lecture halls.
Who You Are
- You believe children are not empty vessels to be filled, but powerful individuals to be unleashed.
- You’re driven by purpose, not curriculum checklists.
- You see learning as an adventure and the classroom as a living, breathing community.
- You are humble, yet bold—a lifelong learner more interested in asking great questions than giving answers.
- You value character, curiosity, creativity, and ownership over compliance and control.
What You'll Do
- Guide learners (ages: 5–7, 8-11, 12-14, or 14–18) on their self-directed journey using Socratic questioning, powerful launches, and real-world challenges.
- Support and uphold a culture of peer accountability, kindness, and high standards.
- Curate a learning environment with meaningful work, inspiring resources, and emotional safety.
- Celebrate mistakes, model curiosity, and reflect daily on how to improve, just like your learners.
This Role Might Be For You If…
- You’re disillusioned with conventional education and feel called to something radically better.
- You’ve taught before, or never taught a day, but you're passionate about working with young people.
- You want to be part of a revolution in education, not a cog in the system.
- You’re open to feedback, growth, experimentation, and radical honesty.
This Role Would Not Be A Good Fit if you:
- Need to be the center of attention or control the learning
- Struggle to let go of traditional teaching or lecturing
- Are uncomfortable with open-ended questions and Socratic dialogue
- Have low patience for messiness, failure, or learner-driven pace
- Want to rescue learners instead of letting them struggle
- Lack belief in young people's ability to lead their learning
- Seek constant praise or external validation
- Avoid giving or receiving honest, growth-minded feedback
- Prefer structure and predictability over flexibility and curiosity
- Are unwilling to grow, reflect, or challenge personal assumptions
Requirements
- A deep love of children and learning.
- An entrepreneurial spirit and resilient mindset.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred, but we care more about who you are than what’s on your résumé.
- Montessori experience for ages 5-7
What We Offer
- A chance to be part of a growing movement that is redefining school.
- A significant role where your work has a lifelong impact.
- A supportive community that values courage, creativity, and authenticity.
- Ongoing professional and personal growth.
