Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead and oversee pharmacy operations for a 6-month contract. The PIC will serve as the primary responsible pharmacist, ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant dispensing of medications while managing pharmacy staff and maintaining regulatory standards. Duties
- Lead daily pharmacy operations, ensuring adherence to all state and federal pharmacy laws, including drug regulation and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA and USP 797 guidelines.
- Supervise and manage pharmacy technicians and staff, fostering a team-oriented environment focused on accuracy, efficiency, and excellent patient service.
- Oversee medication dispensing processes, including compounding medications with aseptic technique, managing inventory, and ensuring proper storage in accordance with USP 797 standards.
- Conduct patient assessments to support clinical pharmacy services such as medication management, pain management, immunizations, and patient care initiatives.
- Ensure accurate medication administration through proper use of pharmacy software systems (PIS), EMR/EHR systems, and pharmacy information systems.
- Maintain strict compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory policies while managing pharmacy operations related to LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital settings, or community pharmacies.
- Provide clinical consultation on complex cases involving pediatrics, acute care scenarios, or specialized medical management.
- Facilitate client communication by explaining medication instructions clearly and addressing patient concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Monitor inventory levels diligently to prevent shortages or overstocking while managing IV infusion supplies and aseptic techniques for sterile preparations.
- Ensure all staff are trained in basic life support (BLS), IV insertion, drug regulation policies, and medical terminology relevant to pharmacy practice.
Qualifications
- Valid NJ and CA pharmacist license in good standing
- Proven experience practicing as a licensed pharmacist within hospital or community settings; LTC pharmacy experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems (PIS), EMR/EHR platforms, and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance including USP 797 standards for sterile compounding.
- Certifications in immunizations (e.g., BLS certification) along with practicing knowledge of drug regulation laws at both state and federal levels.
- Experience managing inventory control processes within hospital or LTC environments; proficiency in handling IV infusions and aseptic techniques is essential.
- Excellent communication skills focused on client interaction, education, and team collaboration to promote optimal patient outcomes.
Pay: $75.00 - $85.00 per hour
