Semcac Head Start is seeking caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic Early Head Start Teachers to join our team. In this role, you will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that supports the healthy development and school readiness of infants, toddlers, and young children. Classroom Leadership
- Plan, prepare, and lead daily classroom activities aligned with Head Start Performance Standards and established curriculum.
- Create learning experiences that support children's intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development.
- Assess children's progress and use assessment data to individualize instruction.
- Support the unique needs, abilities, and differences of each child.
- Supervise and mentor classroom support staff.
- Coordinate services for children with disabilities and special needs.
- Promote nutrition, health, and wellness throughout daily activities.
- Maintain accurate child records, assessments, documentation, and case notes.
Family Engagement
- Build positive relationships with families and encourage active participation in their child's education.
- Support families as children transition to their next educational setting.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding child development and program activities.
Community Partnership
- Assist with recruitment and enrollment of eligible children and families.
- Collaborate with community partners to connect families to needed resources and services.
QualificationsRequired
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
- CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Knowledge of child development and the needs of children and families.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer proficiency and basic data-entry skills.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the service area.
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks, medical exams, and health screenings.
Preferred
- Experience working in Early Head Start, Head Start, childcare, preschool, or early childhood education settings.
- Experience working with diverse families and communities.
