About the Opportunity
A well-established and growing plaintiff-side litigation firm is seeking a Pre-Litigation Attorney to join its collaborative and trial-focused team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is looking for meaningful responsibility, hands-on litigation experience, and the opportunity to manage complex personal injury matters from inception through trial.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, self-motivated litigator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about advocating for injured clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft complaints, demand letters, written discovery, and discovery responses.
- Handle all aspects of law and motion, including drafting, opposing, and arguing motions in California state courts (federal court experience is a plus).
- Take and defend depositions of parties, treating physicians, and expert witnesses.
- Prepare clients, witnesses, and experts for depositions and trial.
- Review medical records, imaging, and provider reports to evaluate causation and damages.
- Collaborate with medical, biomechanical, economic, accident reconstruction, and life care planning experts.
- Develop litigation strategy and independently manage assigned cases.
- Attend hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and case management conferences.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and internal team members.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active California Bar license in good standing.
- 2 to 3 years of civil litigation experience. Plaintiff-side personal injury experience is preferred, though qualified defense attorneys will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions.
- Strong law and motion experience.
- Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing medical records.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling personal injury, medical malpractice, or general liability matters.
- Exposure to catastrophic injury, wrongful death, or traumatic brain injury cases.
- Trial experience as first or second chair.
- Experience working with expert witnesses and high-value litigation.
- Familiarity with the California Code of Civil Procedure, California court rules, and e-filing systems.
