JOB TITLE: Bilingual Medical Office Assistant (Spanish Speaking)
LOCATION: Wilmington, NC
SCHEDULE: Full Time
REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate with 2-3 years of experience related to specified duties.
- Two (2) years secretarial or clerical experience.
OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Working knowledge of cash management principles and procedures.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Coastal Horizons is seeking a compassionate, organized, and bilingual professional to join our team as a Bilingual Medical Office Assistant (Spanish/English). This position serves as the primary administrative and patient support resource for Clinica Latina, supporting both behavioral health and primary care services.
The Bilingual Medical Office Assistant plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, culturally responsive environment by providing exceptional customer service, coordinating patient care, and ensuring effective communication through English/Spanish interpretation and translation. This position performs a variety of medical office responsibilities including patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, electronic health record management, billing support, and administrative assistance while maintaining compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, OSHA, and agency policies.
This role also provides administrative support across multiple service lines and serves as backup support for the Office Manager during planned or unplanned absences.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
- Knowledge of medical and behavioral health office practices and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, referral sources, and staff in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, printers, scanners, calculators, and multiline telephone systems.
- Knowledge of patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and medical records management.
- Ability to organize and maintain electronic and paper records.
- Ability to provide accurate information regarding agency programs and services.
- Willingness to work with individuals with behavioral health and medical needs in a professional, compassionate manner.
- Working knowledge of grammar, spelling, and basic arithmetic.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
