JOB SUMMARY
The Cook prepares resident meals including special diets, according to physician orders and quality guidelines. This is a full-time, hourly position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures resident satisfaction regarding meals through quality, quantity, and presentation.

Ensures all safety procedures are followed in the preparation of meals, including following prescribed meal diet orders for Maple Tree Village residents.

Observes and practices all department safety and sanitation standards.

Prepares, cooks, and serves general and special diet meals for residents.

Measures and mixes food ingredients according to recipes and menus, preparing all types of food according to accepted food production methods and regulatory requirements.

Practices proper portion control according to prescribed diet.
- Uses steam table to maintain meals at proper temperatures before they are served.

Cleans cooking utensils, food preparation equipment, and kitchen areas according to schedules and prescribed methods; makes appropriate notations of food exchanges on daily menus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or GED required.
- Culinary background with a minimum of two years’ recent commercial kitchen experience i.e.; restaurant, skilled nursing, assisted/independent living.
- Strong prep skills; knowledge of breakfast, lunch and dinner entree preparation with knowledge of scratch soups, sauces/gravies, starches and vegetables.
- Varied styles of cuisines are a plus!

- Ability to work weekends.
