Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Purchasing Agent to join our team and support the Purchasing Director in all aspects of procurement for a fast paced mechanical construction company. This individual will play a key role in managing purchase orders, vendor relationships, pricing strategies, and coordinating closely with internal departments.
HVAC Assistant Project Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Purchasing Director in daily purchasing operations and strategic procurement activities.
- Assist with change orders, submittals, and purchasing
- Issue, track, and manage purchase orders (POs) for materials, tools, and subcontracted services.
- Source and obtain competitive quotes from multiple vendors and suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong, professional vendor relationships to support project needs.
- Monitor and maintain current pricing for frequently purchased materials and equipment.
- Analyze vendor proposals to ensure quality, pricing, and delivery timelines meet company standards.
- Work with the Accounts Payable (AP) department to ensure timely invoice approvals and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure practices comply with company policies and project specifications.
- Assist in tracking material deliveries and resolving delivery or quality issues.
- Permits and Inspection Coordinator
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of purchasing experience in the construction industry; mechanical construction preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and vendor pricing structures.
- Excellent follow up and organizational skills
- Proven experience in sourcing, quoting, and vendor negotiations.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement tasks in a deadline driven environment.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling fast-paced workflows.
Preferred Traits:
- Self-starter with a proactive attitude.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Capable of building trust and working as the “right hand” to the Purchasing Director.
- Knowledge of mechanical construction (HVAC, plumbing, piping, etc.) is a significant advantage.
- Bilingual (English, Spanish)

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
