Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Orthopedic medical disciplines and demonstrate exceptional patient care skills. This role requires proficiency in clinical procedures, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The Physician Assistant will be responsible for providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The Physician Assistant supports orthopedic surgeons in diagnosing, treating, and managing musculoskeletal conditions through clinical care, surgical assistance, and patient education.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and obtain patient histories
- Administer medications, injections (e.g, joints. tendons, bursae) and aspirations, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and interpret medical imaging results; such as X-rays, MRIs, CT Scans and lab results.
Surgical Assistance:
- Act as First Assist in Orthopedic Surgeries
- Assist in surgical procedures, including tissue closure, applying surgical appliances and removing hardware. As well as , wound debridement, tendon repair and fracture pinning
Postoperative & Inpatient Care:
- Monitor recovery, manage pain, and coordinate rehabilitative therapies
- Conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and dictate discharge summaries
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
Patient Education & Coordination
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems..
- Counsel patient on education health management, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications.
- Coordinate physical and occupational therapy referrals
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and NCQA standards in all patient interactions.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Licensure: Must be licensed to practice as a PA in the state
- Specialized Training: Experience or certification in orthopedic procedures is highly valued
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with orthopedic devices, surgical tools, and diagnostic software
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with telehealth practices and outpatient care models.
- Background in Geriatrics, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy; experience with basic life support is essential.
- Ability to perform procedures such as phlebotomy .
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.
