Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Instructional Assistant in the Behavior Unit at Caldwell County Elementary School. This full-time position is designed for someone who is passionate about supporting students with behavioral challenges and fostering a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing instructional activities and behavioral interventions tailored to students' needs.
- Support students in developing social skills and managing their emotions through guidance and positive reinforcement.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to the teacher and contributing to the development of IEP goals.
- Facilitate small group and one-on-one instruction to reinforce learning concepts and promote engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom setting, ensuring that students feel secure and respected.
- Assist with daily routines, including transitions, lunch, and recess, to ensure a smooth and structured environment for students.
- Uphold school policies and procedures, promoting a positive school culture and community.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; must have 48 college hours or pass the Kentucky State Paraeducator Exam.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies and techniques, as well as an understanding of special education laws and practices.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and the use of educational technology.
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with school district policies and regulations.
