Lead Meaningful Projects from Strategy to Successful Delivery
OpenPatternGroup Ventures is seeking an experienced, organised, and people-focused Senior Project Manager to join our growing team in Montgomery.
This is a senior delivery role for someone who knows how to turn ambitious ideas into structured, achievable plans and guide people confidently through every stage of execution.
You will lead complex, cross-functional projects from initial planning through implementation and completion. You will work closely with senior leaders, internal teams, external partners, clients, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, responsibly, on schedule, within budget, and to a consistently high standard.
We are looking for more than someone who manages timelines and produces status reports. We need a trusted leader who creates clarity, builds strong working relationships, anticipates problems, and helps teams perform at their best.
About OpenPatternGroup Ventures
OpenPatternGroup Ventures is a forward-thinking organisation focused on developing, supporting, and scaling high-potential business initiatives.
We bring together strategy, investment, operational expertise, and project execution to help promising ideas become sustainable ventures. Our work may span business transformation, technology, infrastructure, operational improvement, commercial development, and new-market opportunities.
We believe successful projects are built through clear thinking, disciplined execution, honest communication, and respect for the people doing the work.
As we continue to grow, we are building a team of capable professionals who take ownership, value collaboration, and are motivated by creating measurable results.
The Role
As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading a portfolio of important projects and ensuring that each initiative has clear objectives, realistic plans, accountable owners, and effective governance.
You will establish the structure that enables teams to move forward with confidence. You will manage competing priorities, identify risks early, and communicate progress in a way that allows stakeholders to make informed decisions.
The role requires a strong combination of strategic judgement, operational discipline, commercial awareness, and emotional intelligence.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership and Delivery
- Lead complex projects from initiation and business-case development through planning, execution, handover, and post-project review.
- Define project scope, objectives, success measures, deliverables, milestones, budgets, dependencies, and resource requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans that clearly show responsibilities, deadlines, critical paths, and decision points.
- Ensure project activities remain aligned with wider business priorities and agreed strategic outcomes.
- Create realistic delivery schedules and adjust plans appropriately when circumstances change.
- Maintain focus on quality, value, and long-term outcomes not simply task completion.
- Take responsibility for ensuring projects are formally closed, documented, and handed over to the appropriate operational teams.
Stakeholder Management
- Build productive relationships with senior executives, department leaders, project teams, clients, vendors, and external partners.
- Establish clear expectations and maintain open, professional communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Translate complex project information into concise updates for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Facilitate project meetings, workshops, planning sessions, steering committees, and decision reviews.
- Manage disagreements constructively and help stakeholders reach practical, evidence-based decisions.
- Escalate critical issues at the appropriate time, with clear recommendations rather than simply reporting problems.
- Ensure stakeholders understand how changes in scope, budget, resources, or timing may affect project outcomes.
Risk, Issue, and Change Management
- Identify project risks, constraints, assumptions, and dependencies at an early stage.
- Maintain accurate risk, issue, decision, and action logs.
- Develop practical mitigation and contingency plans.
- Lead issue-resolution activities and ensure actions have clear owners and deadlines.
- Manage project changes through a structured and transparent change-control process.
- Protect projects from uncontrolled scope expansion while remaining responsive to legitimate business needs.
- Monitor emerging risks across multiple projects and identify potential portfolio-level impacts.
Financial and Commercial Management
- Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets.
- Track expenditure, forecasts, commitments, and financial variances.
- Work with finance and leadership teams to maintain accurate reporting and financial controls.
- Support procurement, vendor selection, contract discussions, and supplier performance management.
- Challenge costs constructively and identify opportunities to improve value without compromising quality.
- Ensure commercial decisions are documented, authorised, and aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
Team Leadership
- Create a collaborative environment where team members understand their roles, priorities, and responsibilities.
- Provide direction while giving specialists the space and trust to contribute their expertise.
- Coach and support project managers, coordinators, and other team members.
- Help resolve resource conflicts and competing priorities across departments.
- Encourage accountability while maintaining a respectful and solutions-focused culture.
- Recognise strong performance and address delivery concerns promptly and fairly.
- Support the development of project-management capability across the wider organisation.
Governance and Reporting
- Establish appropriate governance arrangements for each project.
- Produce clear and accurate progress reports covering schedule, budget, scope, risks, issues, resources, and expected outcomes.
- Present project updates and recommendations to senior leadership and governance groups.
- Maintain complete, organised, and auditable project documentation.
- Ensure key decisions, approvals, changes, and lessons learned are properly recorded.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools that give leaders a reliable view of project health and performance.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project-management standards, templates, systems, and processes.
What Success Looks Like

- Establish clear governance, reporting, and accountability across your assigned projects.
- Bring structure and momentum to complex or high-priority initiatives.
- Improve visibility into project performance, budget, risks, and resource needs.
- Deliver early improvements that strengthen confidence among project teams and senior leaders.

- Confidence working with ambiguity and developing structure where processes are still evolving.
- Proficiency with project-management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Monday.com, Asana, Jira, Trello, or similar platforms.
- Strong competence using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or comparable business-productivity tools.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, project management, engineering, construction, technology, finance, operations, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
